FAQ: Frequently asked questions

If you have additional questions, please contact our customer support for detailed answers.

How do you identify the companies visiting our site?

We record the IP address of the visitor on your website and use what is known as a whois-database to look up which company has registered that IP address. Based on that information, we look up a Companies House number for the company and use that to find background information and decision maker information for the company.

How many companies can you identify based on IP addresses?

In the UK, we can identify about 150 000 companies. Smaller companies are generally more difficult to identify than large ones, but we do identify a lot of both. We do not identify private visitors even in those rare cases where it would be possible - if you're registered as a company, we won't identify you.

How do customers react when they get a call based on a website visit?

What you say to your customer when you call them has the most influence on how they react. Most people are not offended by your call if you make it in a professional manner. Remember that you do not know who in the customer's organisation visited your website, so concentrate on talking about the products or services of interest to your customer instead of why you are calling.

When do I say Yes and No to a lead?

Usually it is best to go with your gut feel. You can ask yourself: "Am I going to call this company because of this lead?" If the answer is yes, then you should click on the yes link and if your answer is no, then you should click on the no link.

If you give negative feedback to a lead by clicking the no link, please remember to specify your feedback by selecting one of the alternatives provided to you after clicking on the link. Specific feedback will help teach the system what you really want and what you don't want. Giving false feedback will in the long run stop good leads from being sent out to you!

How do we know how many visits you discard as leads?

You can check the numbers in the weekly report sent out on Mondays.

Can you provide more in depth visitor data from our website?

We provide the MarketingDashboard add-on service for more general usage data. If you want more, please refer to some of the great web analytics tools available, such as Google Analytics (which is free of charge).

We are committed to our goal: offer good leads to sales professionals. That's why we won't add analytics features to our service, we want to concentrate on what we're good at.
